On the eve of the visit of President of America, Mr Barak Obama, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the United States Agency for International Development (US AID) had organized a Kissan Mela – an exposition showcasing Innovation that is helping transform Indian Agriculture on 7 November 2010 at St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai. 

As a leader in micro-irrigation in India and global number two player, a special invitation was extended to Jain Irrigation to showcase the pioneering work done by us in the field of hi-tech agriculture and the breakthrough technology initiatives for the small farmers. 
 
President Obama spent quite some time at our exhibit area and was eager to know about the entire body of our workWhile interacting with the Presidentour Managing DirectorMr Anil Jain (Anil Bhauexplained the concept of drip irrigation and how with less inputs higher productivity is possible for the farmers installing Drip Irrigation system 

We had displayed our innovative micro irrigation concept along with the Solar pump and the salient features of the same were informed to the President. 
 
Anil Bhau also briefed him of our USA operations in California, Florida, Oregon, Massachusetts and Newyork. Finally, he urged the President to advocate the use of drip irrigation in the farms of United States and encourage the agricultural community there to embrace this revolutionary technology for attaining the common objective of water conservation. 
 
The President was glad to know from our progressive Sugarcane farmer Mr Sanjeev Mane that due to micro-irrigation he could achieve a yield of 120 tonnes which is thrice the yield possible without the use of technology. 
 
President Obama acknowledged that companies like Jain Irrigation from India will play a significant role in creating food security for humanity. 
 
US Secretary of State for Agriculture Mr Thomas Wilsack, CII heads of US & India, US Agency for International Development (USAID) officials, US ambassador to India Dr Timothy J. Roemer and officials from President Obama’s office who visited our expo appreciated Jain Irrigation’s contribution to water security and commended our work in harnessing renewable energy by promoting the use of Solar pump for irrigation and other purposes.
