Sugarcane cultivation in Brazil has been a key part of growing the local economy in recent
history as a major sorce of income and employment.
Sugarcane contributes to 80% of Sugar produced worldwide and Brazil produces 25% of the world’s sugar and ethanol.
Sugarcane is a water-intensive crop that is considered one of the world’s thirstiest crops –which create a challenge in a time when water shortage becomes a real and present danger. Using advance irrigation methods, such as NaanDanJain’s Drip irrigation is the most efficient and effective solution for an intensive crop such as the sugar cane.
Drip irrigation around the globe enable to double the yields while saving 20-40% water & 30% fertilizers compare to furrow irrigation. Furthermore, drip irrigation accounts for the improvement in sucrose content compared to conventional furrow and overhead sprinkler irrigation.
This Turn key project of 400 Hectares by NaanDanJain Brazil is comprised of full irrigation system designing & detailed engineering, construction of the required infrastructure (water intakes, ditch excavation, water reservoir, civil works, dripline subsurface installation, etc) and complete system installation, commissioning, running in and customer acceptance.
Such installation includes pipeline network, control heads, filtering, water control & metering, fertigation devices, hydraulic and electrical set up, full automation & control boards, digital water monitoring and management system including automatic weather station, soil moisture sensors and all required hardware and software for proper operation.
The irrigation solution chosen is the TopDrip PC AS ( Pressure Compensating Anti Syphon) Subsurface Drip Irrigation ( SDI):
Sub-Surface Irrigation system is most practical for sugarcane cultivation as it contributes to better germination while achieving better protection for the drippers. The TopDrip features have many advantages:
